Verna Haynes Lusk Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verna Haynes Lusk (Centerville, Texas), born in Jewett, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 9, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Hamon Haynes and Vesta Haynes. She is survived by: her siblings, Robert, Billy Jo Haynes, Henrietta Sweeney, Evelyn Portis and Betty Jo Dawkins; her children, Melvin Lusk, Marvia Robertson and Gwendolyn Lusk; her sisters, Burma Faye McClennan (California) and Vesta Marie Lusk (Houston); her grandchildren, Millicent Turner (Houston), Jamie Robertson (Virginia), Erin Moss (Atlanta) and Sheldon Lusk (Houston); her great grandchildren, Treylyn Turner of Christian and Melanee Turner; and also Harold Portis (California). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pleasant Spring Community Church (4058 Co Rd 204, Centerville, TX 75833). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made toward the restoration of her beloved home church, Greater Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. 327, Centerville, Texas 75833.
