He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie Whitten and Willie Cook Whitten; his wife Betty Whitten; his siblings, Charlene Smith, Sonya Walls, Dick Whitten and Melvin Whitten; and his grandson Zyan Lee Perez.

He is survived by : his children, Sherri Bradford (Ronny) of Childress, Donna Fanning (Charlie) of Childress, Jeff Whitten and Kanda Whitten; his grandchildren, Cassie Stark (Scott) of Childress, Matthew Thomas of Childress, Kelley Whitten (Allison) of Odessa and Kayla Hernandez of Waxahachie; and his siblings, Bill Whitten, Gayle Whitten, Darlene Harris and Arvazene Crouch (Charles). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
