He was predeceased by: his former wife Violet Marie Swedberg; his parents, Obie A. Atkinson and Verna Jenkins Atkinson; and his siblings, Don, Kenneth, Burl, Bobbie and Bonnie.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Scherff Parsons Atkinson; and his children, Barry Atkinson (Jana), Robin Atkinson Short (Jon), Kelly Parsons, Larry Parsons (Gloria), Suzanne Parsons and Stacy Cherry. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hillier Funeral Home (4080 Hwy 6, College Station, TX 77845). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
