She was predeceased by : her parents, Cecil Sanders and Georgia Sanders; her husband Lynn Carter; her son Bobby Jo Singletary (BJ); and her brother Jack W. McCollister.

She is survived by : her children, Virginia Singletary, Vernon Lewis Singletary (Buddy), Jeanetta, Christina Blakeley (CC), James, Teri Lynn Winkelmann, Michelle Vinson and Carrie Hebert (Joshua); and her siblings, Linda Jacobson and Cedric L. McCollister, Jr.. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many cousins.
