He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Annie Fickes; his close friend Conrad Heede; his friend John Dorety; his close friend Barry Emerson; his father Dr. Kenton Reece Fickes; his stepdaughter Autumn Nicholson; his wife Kathy Fickes; his children, Chris Fickes, Corey Fickes (Kacey) and Jenny Styers (Alex); his stepdaughter-in-law Amy Holland; his stepdaughter Cassandra DeMora (Steve); his grandchildren, Evelyn Fickes and Jack Fickes; his siblings, Ken Fickes (Sally Slomer) and Pam (Jonathan Miller); his former wife Robin Fickes Harper; his friend Gary; and also, Amanda, David Dean, Autumn, Cassie, Kathy, Annie Loree Luker Fickes and Catherine Lee Bell Fickes.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home (5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034, USA). A memorial service was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hurst Conference Center (1601 Campus Dr, Hurst, TX 76054).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to celebrate Gary's enthusiasm for the Rotary Club of Grapevine, the Lions Club of Colleyville, the Gary Fickes Osteopathic Medicine Endowed Scholarship at Sam Houston State University, the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America, or LifeGift.
