He was predeceased by: his father Antonio Tijerina Ortiz; his wife Maria Gracia; his parent Natividad M.; and his brothers, Oscar Ortiz, Antonio R. Ortiz (Socorro), Baldomero Ortiz (Beatriz) and Gilberto Ortiz.
He is survived by: his children, Rosa Maria Ortiz, Thelma Teresa Ortiz-Vasquez (Robert), Eduardo C. Ortiz, Jr. and Jorge Luis Ortiz (Rebecca); his sister Arabela Ortiz-Melve (Calixto); and his sister-in-law Maria Luisa Ortiz. He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
