He is survived by: his daughters, Rachel Hernandez (Jose) and Claire Albanese (Tyler); his grandsons, Andres Hernandez and Everett Albanese; his sister Monna Nabers; his sister-in-law Kathryn Spiering (Russell Spiering); his niece Stacy Parker (Bob); his great-nephew Nate Parker; and his former wife Susan Ochoa.
At James' request, his body was generously donated to the University of Texas at Houston for the advancement of science.
