He was predeceased by: his parents, Mayme Gunn and William Thomas Johnson; his wife Bobbie Jean Anderson; his brother Fletcher Johnson (Jane); and his siblings-in-law, Albert Springs, A. M. "Buddy" Lindeman Jr. and Jacqueline Payne.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jean Peterek Burns (Norman L. Burns) of Gonzales, Lea Ann Johnson of Austin and Thomas William Johnson (Sissy) of Corsicana, TX; his grandchildren, Greyson Peterek of Bastrop, TX and Lana Peterek DuBose (Sean) of Austin; his great grandchildren, William Gunn DuBose, Gregory Cole DuBose and Jack Avery DuBose; and his sisters, Dorothy Springs and Ruby Lindeman of New Braunfels. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
