He was predeceased by : his parents, James Balkum and Pearl Balkum (Dowden); his wife Ginny Carlisle Balkum; and his sisters, Betty Saunders and Linda Williams.

He is survived by : his daughters, Laura Anson (Neil) of Carrollton and Sarah Braun (Ryan) of Sugar Land; and his grandchildren, Rebekah, Rachel Anson, Owen and Ethan Braun.
