It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Thelma Knight Lyons of Cypress, Texas, born in Cheneyville, Louisiana, who passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parent Beverly Knight; her brothers, Horace Knight, Lonesome Knight and Leon Jackson; and her nephews, Michael Adams and Jimmy Adams.
She is survived by: her sister Lucille Adams; her niece Beverly Payne (Melvin) of Orange, Texas; her great-niece Hazel Williams of Cypress; her sisters, JJ Nichols of Port Arthur, Texas., Ida Como of Port Arthur, Texas., Ethel Gray of Port Arthur, Texas. and Ora Guillory of Port Arthur, Texas.; and also, Jordan Roberson of Dallas, Texas. and Charity. She is also survived by extended family, friends, former students, sorority sisters.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel (3800 Memorial Blvd, Port Arthur, TX 77642). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
