He was predeceased by : his parents, Santos Chavez and Lillie Albidrez; his sister Gloria Bustillos; his brother-in-law Raymond; his siblings, Isabel Chavez, Antonia Chavez, Alfredo "Freddy" Chavez (Elizabeth) and Joe Louie Chavez (Gloria); his parents-in-law, Catarino R. Encinia and Trinidad G. Encinia; and his sibling-in-law Catarino Encinia.

He is survived by : his wife Marina E. Chavez; his stepdaughter Krystal Marie Rodriguez (Abram); his son Joseph Daniel; his stepson Paul Christopher Liscano; his grandchildren, Rene Xavier Salazar, Jr., Paulina Suzette Liscano, Jada Jisselle Chavez, Klarissa Marina Rodriguez and Jaxx Joseph Chavez; his siblings, Juanita Lara (Jim) and Andrew "Andy" Chavez (Madelaine); and his siblings-in-law, Javier Joseph Encinia (Pamela), Maria C. Encinia, Yolanda Rangel (late Ruben), Lazaro Encinia, Felicita, Marjorie Morales (Jorge), Alberto Encinia (Andrea), Theodoro "Ted" Encinia and Evalina Deleon (Jose).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given for the construction of the new church at St. Augustine Catholic Church that Danny was involved in planning, payable to "Building in Faith" located at 1054 N.
