He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard Hershberger and Marion Hershberger. He is survived by : his wife Janet; his sons, Jeffrey Hershberger (Eli Vega) and Charles Kammer (Amanda); and his grandson Maxwell.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Wiley Funeral Home (400 W US Hwy 377, Granbury, TX 76048). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry's memory may be made to either DAV - Disabled American Veterans, T2T - Tunnels 2 Towers to help fallen Police offices and firefighter families, or to the Second Chance Fam in Granbury.
