He was predeceased by : his parent Bonnie Jo Gilbert Horton; and his grandparents, Jack and Esther Gilbert. He is survived by : his wife Kathy Horton of Paradise; his children, Gilbert Horton of Bridgeport and Kara Horton of Paradise; his grandchildren, Hannah Reaves (Brock) of Bridgeport, Andrew Horton of Bridgeport and Blake Horton of Bridgeport; his great grandchildren, Kace, Asher, Lane and Connor; and his brothers, Louis Horton (Joyce) of Decatur, Richard Horton (Ollie) of Paradise and David Horton (Pam) of Decatur.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hawkins Funeral Home - Decatur (405 E Main St, Decatur, TX 76234-1513). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Cottondale (145 Co Rd 3355, Paradise, TX 76073). A burial was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at the Paradise Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kara Horton Fund through the First Baptist Church of Cottondale, 145 CR 3355 Paradise, Tx 76073.
