He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Ballinger and Mame Ballinger (Mosely); his wife Frankie LaRue Dodson; and his siblings, Edward Ballinger, Wanda Bradley, Billie Lewis and Ernie Hammons.
He is survived by: his nephews, Eddie, Kenneth and Danny; his sister Linda Lang of Allen, TX; his daughters, Sandy Reynolds (Dale) of Denison, Texas and Dianne Elliott (Joe) of Denison, TX.; and his grandsons, James Gibson of Allen, TX, David Gibson (Loren) of McKinney, TX, Jacob Gibson (Nilou) of Sugar Land, TX, Chris Hix (Caiti) of Leander, TX, Adam Hix (Valerie) of Dallas, TX and Joseph Elliott of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
