He was predeceased by : his parents, Feliciano Saenz and Dominga Saenz; and his siblings, Lisandro Saenz and Angelica Saenz Arteaga. He is survived by : his wife Leonor Saenz; his children, Gilberto Saenz Jr. (Nubia), Teodora Fobbs (James), Suzana Ramos (Daniel), Alma Saenz, Johnny Saenz, Sammy Saenz, Viki Shankles (Chris) and Al Saenz (Monica); his grandchildren, Jeanelle Amanda, Nataleigh Nicole, Matthew Paul, Victoria Elize, Jaidyn Ava, Kinsley Rai, Melanie Janet and Kai Riley; and his great grandchildren, Brielle Amanda and Ezra James. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
