He was predeceased by : his parents, Jesus Salazar and Felipa Tijerina Salazar; his wife Yolanda Saucedo Salazar; and his siblings, Mary Gonzalez, Edward, Jesse, Felix and Ignacio Salazar.

He is survived by : his children, Debbie Jasso (Mario) of Sugar Land and Joe Salazar Jr. (Sherry) of Richmond; his granddaughters, Kellie Jasso (Bianca) of Dallas, Ciara Jasso (Nicklaus O'Connor) of Chicago, IL and Lucinda Salazar of Richmond; his brother Louis Salazar; and his friend Lily Garcia of El Campo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Triska Funeral Home (612 Merchant St, El Campo, TX 77437-3440). A rosary was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Robert's Catholic Church (512 Tegner St, El Campo, TX 77437). A burial was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at the Holy Cross Memorial Park.
