He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Contreras and Teodiosa Ramos Contreras; his wife Sofia Contreras; his son Sergio Contreras; his children-in-law, Maria Contreras (late Juan) and Gregorio Vargas (late Rita); and his siblings, Josefina Contreras, Rosario Contreras, Vicenta Contreras and Jacobo Contreras.
He is survived by: his children, Juan Antonio Contreras, Gildardo Contreras (Maria), Rita Vargas and Marisela Garcia (Isidro). He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
