He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd "Red" Hardgrave and Eva Yandell Hardgrave Blackburn; his stepfather Lloyd Blackburn; his brother Donald Hardgrave; and his grandson Andrew Hardgrave.
He is survived by: his wife Jackie Hardgrave; his children, Karen Walsemann (Dale) and Kurt Hardgrave (Terri); and his grandchildren, Jake Hardgrave (Mary) and Karla Walsemann.
