Marlies M. English Obituary

Marlies M. English, age 82, passed away on January 22, 2024 in Memphis, Texas.

Services will soon be announced under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Marlies was born on October 12, 1941 to Heinrich Kirchoff and Anna Maria (Braun) Kirchoff in Germany. She met Frank English Jr. while he was stationed in Germany and serving in the United States Army and they soon married. Upon returning to the United States, they eventually settled in Estelline, Texas and they remained married for 56 years until Frank's passing. Marlies was a published author of two poetry books and she also wrote an editorial column for Amarillo Globe News for 10 years. She was a kind and giving person who supported many charitable organizations throughout her life including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Heinrich Kirchoff and Anna Maria (Braun) Kirchoff and her husband, Frank English Jr.

Marlies is survived by: Daughter - Nancy Ann Ritschl of Dortmund, Germany Son - Frankie English of Estelline, TX, Daughter - Michele Springer of Tell, TX, Grandson - Cedric Köster and wife, Laura of Dortmund, Germany Granddaughter - Vivian Marielle Ritschl of Dortmund, Germany, Grandson - Samuel English of Amarillo, TX, Granddaughter - Alessandra English of Amarillo, TX, Granddaughter - Crystal Souchek of San Diego, CA, Grandson - Andrew Souchek of New York City, NY, Great Grandson - Logan Souchek of San Diego, CA, Great Grandson - Miles Köster of Dortmund, Germany.
