He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Montanez and Hortensia Vizcarra; his stepfather Piemenio Arcides; his wife Manuela Montanez; and his siblings, Maria Elena Velasquez, Rosalinda Arcides and Gilbert Arcides.
He is survived by: his sons, Mauricio Montanez Jr. of Fort Stockton, Michael Montanez of Fort Stockton, Jimmy Montanez of Fort Stockton and Gilbert Montanez of Fort Stockton; and his siblings, Oscar Arcides (Fort Stockton), Grace Quintela, Julia Franco (Fort Stockton) and Josie Reyes (California). He is also survived by six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
