He is survived by: his wife Olivia Perales Montez of Fort Worth; his sons, Michael (Belinda) of Fort Worth and Joe Jr. (Toni); his siblings, Arthur Montez, Sr. (Annette) of Cameron, Leo Montez (Gloria) of Rosebud, Johnny Montez (Antonette) of Waco, Rosie Garcia (Pete) of Bryan, Eva Gonzalez of Waco and Lupe Montez of Waco; his grandchildren, Coreen (Isaac), Anthony, Alonzo (Sammy), Michael Jr. (Tanya), Chelsea (Danny), Amanda, Luke and Avery; and his great grandchildren, Christian, Jayden, Isabella, Michael Joe, Stella, Hazel, Carter, Ava and Cora. He is also survived by Many loving nieces, nephews, cousins.
