He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard Atwood and Betty Lou Atwood; his daughter Anne Elizabeth Atwood; and his stepsister Sherrie Heap. He is survived by : his wife Sharon Atwood of Frankston; his son Richard Brooks Atwood II (Monica); and his grandchildren, Richard "Buck" Brooks Atwood III, William Garrett Atwood, Victoria Elizabeth Atwood, Thomas "Jake" Jackson Atwood and Lindsey Feagins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
