He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Gassaway and Clydia Gassaway; and his siblings, John C. Gassaway Jr and Vera Duffer. He is survived by: his former wife Maude Ann Pruitt; his wife Maude Gassaway of Fredericksburg; and his children, Lachelle Huron (Mark), Kevin Gassaway (Sheri) and Lesa Smothers (Steve). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
