It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elva Garza Cantu of Freer, Texas, born in Benavides, Texas, who passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Samuel Garza and Guadalupe Garza. She is survived by : her husband Julio G. Cantu of Benavides, Texas; her children, Julio Cantu Jr. (Maria Cantu), Jose Omar Cantu, Eleazar Efin Cantu (Alberta Cantu), Juan Carlos, Zulema Espinosa Jr. (Jesus), Diolanda Cantu and Cindy Marie Vela (Mattthew); and her siblings, Juan Manuel (Sonia Garza), Jose Arnold (Luisa Garza) and Ludy Salinas (Valente). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Garza Funeral Home - Freer (120 S Sun Ave, Freer, TX 78357). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Christian Center of Freer Tuesday (1020 E Jeff Cowley St, Freer, TX 78357). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 9th 2024 at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery.
