He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesus Rodriguez Mata and Ramona Costilla Mata; his grandchildren, Zelda Deluna and Angel Perez; and his siblings, Julia Munoz, Felipe Mata (Norma), Alejos Mata and Jesus Mata.
He is survived by: his wife Esmeralda; his children, Vanessa Deluna (Jovan) of La Vernia, Santiago Mata Jr. (Nancy Wilkins) of San Antonio and Jesus Mata (Libby) of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren, Miguel Angel Deluna, Josiah Deluna, Jada R. Deluna, Jovan G. Deluna, Ayden Wilkins, Daniel Mata, Joseph Mata and Pablo Mata; his siblings, Juan Mata (Paula), Teresa Mata, Maria Elena Rodriguez, Rosa Mata and Velia Robledo; and his sister-in-law Zuleman Lara. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Finch Funeral Chapel (13767 US Hwy 87 E p, Adkins, TX 78101). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Ann Catholic Church (14151 U. S. Hwy 87 W, La Vernia, TX 78121).
