She was predeceased by: her parents, William Briant Messer Sr. and Mary Irene Messer (David); her siblings, Leta, Doris Messer and William Briant "Dub" Messer Jr.; and her sons, Bennett Wayne "Rocky" Brooks and Briant Layne Brooks.
She is survived by: her daughters, Marilyn Jean Bramblett (John Amthor) and Elizabeth Gail Iley (Dennis); her daughter-in-law Hortensia Brooks; and her grandchildren, Kevin Stewart Iley, Terri Christine Iley and Elayna Mia Saib (Brooks).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to the South Texas Children's Home or Cadiz Baptist Church.
