He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ellis and Elizabeth Ellis (Boys); and his wife Nancy Ellis (Cunningham). He is survived by: his daughters, Cindy Ellis of Frisco and Karen Chong of New York City; his grandchildren, Eliza Perry (Jack), Lucy Ellis, Jeremy and Pippa Chong (Marci Boone); his siblings, Terry Ellis (Terry) of Buford, Georgia and Molly Ellis of Englewood; and his great grandchild Barton Perry.
