He was predeceased by : his parents, Johnnie Hawkins and Gertrude Hawkins; his daughter Deanna Shingleton; and his brother Robert Taylor. He is survived by : his wife Joann Hawkins; his children, Cindy Pietrzykowski (Tony) and Johnny Hawkins; his grandchildren, Scott Hawkins, Craig Hawkins, Vicki Hawkins, Christopher Shingleton and Christen Hawkins; and his great grandchildren, Brandon Hawkins, Carmen Tulanowski and Lauren Shingleton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the Scottish Rite or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
