He was predeceased by : his parents, Clint "Buster" Bowden and Imogene Bowden; his wife Sidney Naomi Almon; his grandson Christian Scherff; his daughter Carla Henley; and his brother Gene Day Bowden.

He is survived by : his children, Laurie (Jim Barger), Russell (Carla Almon) and Katie Almon; his grandchildren, Molly Barger, Jared Almon, Sharon Almon, Alex Scherff, Keegan (Sherry Dupons) and Mackenzie Dupons; and his great grandchildren, Skyler, Noah, Raylyn and Harley Dupons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice in memory of Joe Lynwood Bowden.
