He was predeceased by : his parents, Jule Adkins and Gertrude Riggs Adkins; his wives, Bobbie Burns Adkins and LaMerle Skinner Adkins; his son Dick Edward Adkins; and his siblings, Porter Adkins, Truman Adkins and Joyce Adkins Sloan.

He is survived by : his son Nick Adkins (Debbie) of Grand Saline; his daughter-in-law Faye Adkins Melton of Grand Saline; his close friend Fern Henley Brooks of Forney; and his grandchildren, Josh, Amber, Jeff and Chad Adkins. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
