He was predeceased by : his parents, Emilia Montes and Eugenio Montes Sr.. He is survived by : his wife Ludivina Montes; his children, Daniella Andrea Montes, Eugene Montes III (Geno) and Cesar Emmanuel Montes; and his siblings, Rolando Montes, Homer Montes, Norma Jaramillo and Rebecca Draper.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Trinity Funeral Chapel (1002 E Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A rosary was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (412 S C St, Harlingen, TX 78550). An entombment was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (14166 US-83 BUS, La Feria, TX 78559).
