With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Francisco R. Benavides Sr. of Harlingen, Texas, who passed away on October 19, 2025 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cristobal Benavides and Maria Benavides; his siblings, Efren, Enrique, Cristobal Jr., Ezequiel, Rev. Esteban Benavides and Alejandra Vargas; and his parents-in-law, Salome R. Villarreal and Maria A. Villarreal.
He is survived by: his wife Rosie V. Benavides; his children, Francisco Benavides, Jr. (Ana), Rose Mary B. Loya (Jaime), Elias Benavides, Misael Benavides (Kimby) and Rebecca Gomez (Abram); his adoptive son Marcelo Castro (Vicky); his grandchildren, Andrew Benavides (Lissy), Alexis Tovar (Ralph), Hannah Mayorga (Aldo), Sarah Loya, Isaiah Simpson-Loya (Autumn), Josiah Loya, Madelyn Castro, Jocelyn Castro, Victoria Castro, Maya Benavides, Joseph Benavides, Isabella Gomez and Jude Gomez; and his great grandchild Matthew Tovar. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Cross Church (899 W Expy 83, San Benito, TX 78586). A prayer will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Cross Church (901 W Expy 83, San Benito, TX 78586). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (14166 US-83 BUS, La Feria, TX 78559).
