He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie Sammons (Howell) and John Sammons; his wife Pat Sammons (Toliver); his daughter Diane Newberry; his daughter-in-law Jo Sammons; and his siblings, Jim Sammons, Howell Sammons, Maurine Gregor and Sue Irby.
He is survived by: his sons, Steven Sammons (Paula) of Haskell and Alvin Sammons of Seymour; his son-in-law Mike Newberry of Lake Dallas; his grandchildren, Lynn Cobb (Danny), Christina Stephens (Winston, Jr.), Kaysha Byrd (Jonathan), Erin Smith (Cameron), Kenn Newberry (Wendi), Andrew Sammons, Lucas Sammons, Dustin Hajek (Amy), Jonathan Hajek (Chelsey) and David Hajek, Jr.; and his sisters-in-law, Robbie Gholson and Jeffie Clifton. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
