He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernesto Mejia, Sr. and Sara Rodriguez Mejia; and his siblings, Albert Mejia, Richard R. Mejia, Raul R. Mejia, Estella Mejia and Angelita Mejia.

He is survived by : his wife Irene Luna Mejia; his children, Maryjane Mejia, Ernestina Mejia-Menah (Shon Menah), Charlotte Luna Cavazos (Andrew C. Cavazos), Ernest Mejia, III (Abby Mejia) and Isaac Mejia (Crystal Cameron); his siblings, Beatrice Herrera, Paul Mejia, Sylvia Silva, Andres Rodriguez, Domingo Rodriguez and Henry Mejia (Sandra Mejia); and his sister-in-law Mary V. Mejia. He is also survived by cousins in San Antonio, numerous nieces and nephews.
