It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Rose Simon in Houston, Texas, born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, who passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Gertrude F. Nelson and Florian Nelson; and her brother Edward Nelson. She is survived by: her daughters, Sara and Debbie Simon; her son-in-law Olivier van Beneden; her grandchildren, Mathieu, Raphael van Beneden and Aurora Espino; her sister-in-law Rebecca Nelson; her niece Holly (Sean Joiner); and her cousins, Naomi and Steven Lemme.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Brookdale Galleria (2929 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Amazing Place.

“B. R. as she was affectionately called and I bonded immediately. She had such a kind, loving spirit. I loved our conversations. I loved her smile. We call each other gossip buddies. We would talk about things going on at Brookdale. We jokingly, crushed on one guy in particular;) I love hearing her stories about her daughters Sarah & Debbie & her grandchildren. She loved them so so much. When I look at Sarah I see B.R. Oh and she loved Mahjong so much. I will surely miss her.”
