He was predeceased by : his parents, Clabron Johnson, Sr. and Lessie Mae Johnson; his siblings, Wilbert Johnson (Melba), Letha Johnson Vurns and Marie Adams; and his brother-in-law Robert Paul Norris.

He is survived by : his close friend Bobby Grisby; his wife Erma Jean "EJ" Johnson; his daughters, April Lynette Simon and Marilyn Hines (John); his sister Clara Funches; his grandchildren, Madelyn Odums, Eboni Roberts, Marcus Odums (Jennifer) and Madison Danyelle Simon; his great grandchildren, Maci Odums, Sir Marcus Odums and Malachi Odums; his sister-in-law Gloria Norris Tapscott; his close friend Lillie Mae Ballard; and also, Jessica Perkins Goode, LaMaria Goins and J. P. Miles. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and special friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:55 AM at the Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church (4901 Providence St, Houston, TX 77020). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
