He was predeceased by: his parents, Salvador Cuevas and Christina Montoya; and his brothers, Manuel Cuevas, Jose Luis Cuevas and Salvador Cuevas.
He is survived by: his daughters, Guadalupe Cuevas, Lorena Cuevas, Marissa Montenegro and Magdalena Cuevas; his grandchildren, Angel Montenegro, Joel Montenegro, Jazel Montenegro, Ana Guerrero, Jazmin Guerrero, Yoselin Cuevas and Alma of Jesus Cuevas; and his siblings, Jesus Cuevas, Juana Zapata and Cecilia Cuevas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
