He was predeceased by: his wife Mamie Lee Thomas; his parents, J. D. Sr. Irvin and Josephine Irvin; his children, James Hill, James Irvin, Archie Irvin, Letha Perkins and Ann Pratt; and his siblings, Rudolph, Joe and Leona.
He is survived by: his significant other Josephine; his children, Paulette, Lavan (Wilfred), Darssie, Oraceil and Harvey Earvin; his siblings, Roy (Rose), Robert (Brenda) and Bobbi; and his godson Ray. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
