Joe Mendoza was born on June 18, 1965, in East Bernard, Texas to Victoriano and Alberta Mendoza. Joe is an alumnus of Alief Hastings High School, class of 1984. He worked within the family-owned commercial landscaping business, where a strong and committed work ethic was instilled by his father, lovingly known as Poppy, as well as the rest of his siblings. Although Joe was the 8th of 12 children within the Mendoza family, he was admired by all, given his solid work ethic and desire to be well accomplished at his profession. While Joe was a dedicated employee, he loved to spend time with his siblings, nieces, and nephews by either BMX bike riding, watching favorite TV shows such as “Chips” or “BJ and the Bear” and cruising with his brothers and nephews while listening to rock and roll music in one of the family-owned sports cars with the T-Tops removed. He also enjoyed visiting the town of Monte Alto (Rio Grande Valley) where the family owned Mague’s Café. He’d go swimming at local canals, “go cruising” with friends and family, within nearby towns such as Edcouch-Elsa, Weslaco, McAllen, and Delta Lake. Joe always made time to be with his family growing up.
Joe married Maria (Maggie) in Houston Texas. Joe loved to spend time with their children, Haldrin and Yariseli cooking, enjoying the outdoors, and backyard barbecues while listening to their favorite Tejano music together.
Professionally Joe was an accomplished Construction Superintendent sought after by many firms. He was considered one of the best within his industry. His tireless work ethic and desire to be the best at what he did was an inspiration to his family and industry colleagues.
