He was predeceased by : his parents, Heloise Bunkley Blackmon and Montey Ray Blackmon; and his brothers, Montey Nathaniel Blackmon and Horace Mark Blackmon. He is survived by : his children, Kristin Blackmon Massey (Jeff Goldberg) and John Ray (Nicole Blackmon); his grandchildren, Landon Massey, Emma Massey, Brian Goldberg, Aubrey Frey and Alyssa Eichhorn; his sisters, Dianna Blackmon Sobala and Priscilla B. (Jerry Mouton); his nieces and nephews, Ron Sobala (Irina Mitchell), Brandon Mark Blackmon (Justin Blackmon), Ronda S. (Richie Bland) and Autumn (Thane Matcek); his great-nieces, Ana Mitchell and Cassie Bland; his great-nephew Chase Sobala; and his aunts, Mary Ellen (Claude Sirmons) and Annette Blackmon (Linda Hoffman). He is also survived by extended family, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home (6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
