He was predeceased by: his wife Wilma June Middleton Smith. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Marsh (Jim) of Houston, Melody Beaver (Bill) of Wheeling, Robin Bray (Jeff) of Wheeling and Steven Smith (Sherrye) of Cummings, Georgia.; and his sister Joan Hazlett (Bill). He is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four nephews and other family members.
