With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kathryn Petershagen in Houston, Texas, born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, who passed away on October 20, 2025 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Byers and Anna Margaret Byers; her in-laws, Harold "Pete" and Joyce Petershagen; and her brothers-in-law, Roy Piere and Joel Petershagen.
She is survived by: her former husband John Petershagen; her sister Margaret Piere (Peg); her children, Andrew Petershagen, Benjamin Petershagen, Sarah Christopher (Michael) and Rebecca McMenemy (Thomas); her grandchildren, Claire, Taylor, Gwyneth, Madison, Andrew, Alyssa, Courtney, Kailey and Eleanor; her great grandchildren, Barrett and Colt; and her sibling's children, Keri Miller and Matt Piere.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240). A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Cemetery (1000 Brown St, Iowa City, IA 52245).
