He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis O Tyra and Mary Mozelle Tyra. He is survived by: his wife Cherie Tyra; his children, Linda Pitts (Kelly), Sandi May (David), Robin Stringer (Carl) and Lewis R. Tyra Jr. (Pat); his stepchildren, Frank Kendrick (Pam) and Charlyn Josey (Greg); his brother Richard N. Tyra (Roberta); and his grandchildren, Kelly Ryan Pitts (Kim), Allison Stringer, Lewis R. Tyra III (Trey), Andrea Tyra, James David May, Jr., Melanie May, Lauren Josey, Linton Kendrick and Logan Kendrick. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
