With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marie Athene Sheltz of Houston, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 2, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Marie Athene may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Marie Athene touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Koy and Mary Koy (Sassie); and her husband Robert Perry Sheltz. She is survived by: her children, Deborah Weakley (Bob), Robert Sheltz (Merrie), Ronald Sheltz (Angie), Karl Sheltz (Cindy), Susan Wells (Lee) and Sandra Kocian (Michael).
A rosary was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Forest Park (6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023). A Mass was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mary's of the Expectation Catholic Church (1612 E Walker St, League City, TX 77573).
