He is survived by: his son Melvin Gordon Jr.; his daughter-in-law Pennie Gordon; his son Richard Earl Gordon; his daughter-in-law Tauna Gordon; his daughter Laura A. Carter; and his son-in-law Daniel Carter. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
