He was predeceased by: his parents, Bardomiano Cortes and Margarita Moreno; and his siblings, Rosario Sanchez, Juana Ballesteros and Jose Sanchez.

He is survived by: his children, Ana Cortez (Jacinto Gil), Robert Cortez and Ivan Cortez; the mother of his children Ana Maria Llamas; his sisters, Maria Sanchez Garcia and Carmen Sanchez; and his grandsons, Adrian, Anthony and Andrew Gil.
