She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvina McKinney-Turner and Robert Turner Sr.; her grandparents, Lillie and Jack McKinney Sr. (Oscar August); and her grandson Michael Robertson.
She is survived by: her children, Gregory E. August (Elvia "Ava"), Michael W. August (Gail), Roderick August, Pamela R. August-Fontenot (Norman), Lakeysha Witherspoon (Eddie), Tasha M. August and Michell Walker of Houston; and her cousins, Claude McKinney, Edie Mae King (McKinney), Annette Dickerson (McKinney), Jeannette Gee (McKinney) and Stella Sonnier (McKinney). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many more relatives and dear friends.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Northside Antioch Baptist Church (1814 Carr St, Houston, TX 77026). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038).
