He was predeceased by : his parents, John Otis Bius and Cammie Davis Bius; his sons, John Thomas Bius, Jr. and Richard Irvin Bius; his stepdaughter Lisa Walker Kuffle; and his grandsons, William Jackson Bius, Richard Bius, Jr. and Tony Walker.

He is survived by : his sisters, Nadine, Joyce and Myra; his wife Susanna; his son Ben Bius; and his grandchildren, Brandon Bius, Kayla Bius, Daniel Bius, Elizabeth Banse, Sue Anne Morales, Rachel Valentine, Robert Walker and Dane Kuffle. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
