He was predeceased by : his father Huldarico Ortiz; his sister Debbie Ortiz; his parents-in-law, Malvin Gunn and Leona Gunn; and his sister-in-law Lucia Gunn.

He is survived by : his wife Madeline Gunn Ortiz; his children, Leona Burns (Devin) of Charlotte, NC, Orlando C. Ortiz Jr. and Nicholis Ortiz of Huntsville, TX; his grandchildren, Javon, Jada and Jasmyne; and his siblings, Lucy Ortiz, Martha Ortiz, Arcelis Richards (Andrew), Wanda Ortiz-Hernandez, Diana Ortiz, Huldarico Ortiz Jr. (Sadie) and Ernie Ortiz (Zita). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
