He was predeceased by : his wife Genevia Brown Bushnell; his siblings, Gwen Pickett and Bill Bushnell; and his parents, Deward Bushnell and Ida Bushnell.

He is survived by : his son David Bushnell (Heather) of New Braunfels; his grandchildren, Derek Bushnell and Emily Akers (Dale) of Richmond; his son Dennis Bushnell (Lynette) of Johnson City; his grandchildren, Seth Bushnell and Madison Bushnell; his son Ronnie Bushnell (Patricia) of McKinney; and his granddaughters, Tara Bushnell of Kerrville and Dana Bushnell of Princeton.

He was a founding member of the Johnson Youth Foundation, served on the Johnson City City Council, and was involved in the local and Capital Area Council of Boy Scouts.
